Origami Heart Bookmark instructions and tutorial

A very easy DIY Valentine's Day gift idea: learn how to make an origami heart bookmark that you can make in less than 3 minutes! This origami heart model is easy to make (even for kids and origami beginners) and you can use it as a bookmark, write a message in it for someone you love, or incorporate it into a Valentine card or other DIY Valentine crafts projects.

I designed this origami heart model 2 years ago and made an animated video tutorial on my other channel Origami Channel.

This origami heart has a slightly different shape than the traditional origami heart models, and it has a locking system on the back to prevent the two halves of the heart from opening. It also has a flap that you can use to turn the paper heart into a bookmark, or to use a stand to make a standing heart. You can also use it to make a hanging decor by attaching hearts to a string, to make a paper heart garland.

To make this origami heart bookmark, you need 1 square sheet of paper. Once folded, only one side of the paper will show, so you can use patterned paper, paper with one colored side and one white side, or paper of one color only.

In the video, I use a 15x15 cm square (about 6x6 inches) so that you can easily see the folds, but it makes a very big bookmark (great for big books!). You can use a smaller square to make a smaller bookmark for pocket books.
